Portswood Primary School

My name is Tony Head and I have been a Principal of Portswood Primary School since September 2016. However, I had the pleasure of working at this school a decade ago and was delighted that I had the opportunity to return as Principal. The support and guidance that comes from working across the Trust is invaluable and I love the feeling of ‘family’ across the partnership. Both the school and I personally have benefitted immensely from the depth and breadth of knowledge and support that is available across the Trust. It has given me the confidence to make informed decisions that I feel are right for the school; ones that have allowed us to continue to strive for excellence for all of our children.

Tanners Brook Primary School

My name is Ingrid Dowse and I am delighted to be the Head of School for Tanners Brook Primary School within HISP Multi Academy Trust.  I have been part of the school since 2006, first as a teacher, then a year leader, then a Vice Principal and now as Head of School.  All three of my children came to Tanners Brook so the school has a real place in my heart.

During my time here, there have been many changes: in 2013 Tanners Brook infant and juniors merged to become a primary school and on the 1st July 2020, we became part of the HISP Multi Academy Trust and we’ve never looked back!  In our most recent Ofsted report, we deservedly came out as good in all areas.

I am so lucky to be part of this fabulous school and to watch our amazing children blossom in the years they spend with us – helped along the way by a passionate and committed staff team.

Thornden Secondary School

I am delighted to introduce myself as Head of School at Thornden, which is now part of the HISP Multi-Academy Trust. I have been at Thornden School now for over 12 years and have held a variety of roles during this time, which have enabled me to develop a strong understanding of how the school works and how it contributes effectively to the local community.

A key part of this role is to develop and improve the outcomes for all students in the school, academically, personally and socially, which is also the primary purpose of the Trust. Knowing the school as well as I do, helps guide some of the decisions that are made so that they also carefully consider the context in which they take place. I have strong working relationships that have developed over time with the core team of the trust.
